Judges play a key role in child welfare proceedings and are responsible for upholding the law and providing critical checks and balances to ensure that children and family’s rights are preserved. Montana Child Protection Alliance supports legislation that increases judicial accountability. During the 2021 legislative session, HB 685 “Revising the makeup and duties of the Judicial Standards Committee” was introduced but failed.

The Montana Judicial Standards Commission- If you have a complaint of unethical conduct or misconduct against a judge, you can file a complaint here. Please note that this Commission does not have appellate jurisdiction. If you are unhappy with a court decision, the appropriate remedy is to appeal to a higher court.
