MCPA has helped hundreds of families to navigate the child protection system in times of crisis. We help connect families to resources, help to identify next steps, and provide support.
Having your child removed from your life is so traumatic. I could hardly function. An MCPA advocate was willing to go to meetings with me. The advocate helped me to speak about the facts without being so emotional so that the truth could be made clear. I appreciated having someone with me who cared so much for my children and family.
An advocate with MCPA helped me locate my local legislators so I could let them know what was happening to my family. I have been able to testify at the state meetings and hope that my story is helping lawmakers and other leaders to know about changes that need to happen. I never would have been brave enough to testify or share my story but I'm glad I did. Thank you to MCPA for helping me tell my story.
My ex called CPS and reported false allegations against me. CPS took my daughter away and put her with my abusive ex. It was a terrifying time for me as I was so worried for my daughter. I reached out to MCPA and an advocate took the time to listen to my story. They gave me some resources so I could be a better advocate for myself and my daughter. The case has been closed and my daughter and I now live in another state. I'm so glad to have my daughter safe again.
I knew I was needing help because of my addiction. When CPS took my child, I contacted an MCPA advocate who encouraged me to get treatment. I wasn't willing to listen to CPS because I saw them as my enemy since they took my child. But when the advocate suggested the help I needed, I was able to hear them. I'm now sober and back with my child. I'm so grateful for the support I felt from MCPA.
I never could have believed that my family would become involved with CPS. We had a normal family until there was a misunderstanding about comments my autistic son made at school. Before I knew what was happening, CPS had been called and the police were questioning my family. I have never been so scared in my life. An advocate with MCPA helped me to determine next steps including getting an attorney. It was so nice to have someone to talk to and help me think clearly about what needed to be done.
I reached out to MCPA out of pure desperation. My children had been removed due to my disability but I was still a good parent. It was all so confusing. MCPA directed me to resources that allowed me to get traction so that I could see my children again. My case was recently closed and I have my children back.
